The Peaches Are Coming…2025 Edition

The nectarines are going to be ripening first. Below is a picture of one of the Bowden nectarine trees. Despite the pink blush and yellowing the fruit is still rock hard and will likely be ripe around June 23rd but we are going to be keeping a close eye.

Nectarines- In 2025 about 50 trees are producing

Nectarines are quite like a smooth skinned peach but have a distinctive, delicious flavor. In 2025 we have 25 trees of the white flesh Bowden nectarine variety and 25 trees of the yellow fleshed Amoore nectarines. Some people prefer the Bowden because it is sweeter than the Amoore. We love both!

Peaches- In 2025 approximately 450 of our 600 peach trees are producing

This year we have both yellow fleshed Contender Peach and the white fleshed China Pearl. Some say the China Pearl tastes sweeter than the Contender but both are delicious, freestone peaches. Look for some Flaming Fury peaches in future years.

The Contenders will ripen before the China Pearl but there will likely be some overlap and there will probably be a few China Pearl ready within days of the Contenders becoming ready.

Normally these peaches will ripen the first week of July. They may be a little ahead, or behind, this year because of the weather but we will keep you up to date. Right now they are swelling and still looking very green.

We also have 50 Flaming Fury (the big peach) but they will not be in production until 2026.

Apricots- In 2025 none yet available

Our 50 apricot trees won’t be mature until 2026 at the earliest.

Apples- In 2025 held in private reserve only (due to heavy deer sampling)

Open Hours & Operations

No Entry unless the Open Sign is Posted. Specific picking times will be as posted by email and on the website.

Please enter only through the Hallelujah Orchard gate. If you have fruit related questions please send an email to sales@pick-a-peach.com or use our contact form.

For now our hours will be posted on our web site nearer the time. Someday we hope to keep the orchard open 6 days a week, Monday to Friday from 7:30 until 5:30 with a possible 30 minutes closed for lunch, again depending on demand and fruit availability.

In 2025 all our u-pick fruit will be sold at $3.00 per lb. This is based on current market prices. We will sell all our fruit at the same price to simplify picking and weighing and mixing and matching, but you must pick only in the designated areas. There is no sales tax.

We can accept all forms of payment which are, in order of preference: cash, most credit cards and check.

Facilities

No parking on Yokley Rd. Drive in through the Hallelujah Orchard gate, with the sign to the side, and drive and park in designated areas only. It’s only U-Pick, and you walk.

The orchard is agricultural property. We try to keep it mowed. Enter at your own risk. Perhaps in future years we can assist the less than able bodied but we are not able to do so this year. Children are welcome but must be supervised by adults.

Please check in on arrival at the sales booth. We provide baskets and plastic bag liners. You will return our basket at weigh-in and leave with your fruit in the plastic bags. Please Do not bring your own bags and baskets, backpacks or large purses.

What you pick, you buy. Please do not pick unripe fruit.

Please do not pick from areas that are closed off. We will have signs indicating the type of fruit and where to pick. This may be because the fruit is not ripe or was recently treated – and therefore not legal to sell.

Sorry, we do not have public restrooms. Water bottles may be available for purchase – to be advised closer to opening.

Newsletter Subscriptions

This post is a copy of our recently sent newsletter. If we received your email address from Forgie’s Orchard or you subscribed directly, you are already subscribed to our newsletter and you will receive on in your email shortly. If not, you can subscribe here.

If you are already subscribed, if you go to your subscriber preferences page, we have included a place for you to provide your cell phone number in the event you want to be texted when we are opening and closing. We have had to add a place for you to indicate your cell phone carrier as we will need this information in order to send texts. Also you will need to indicate whether you want to be notified when we are opening and / or when we are closing. This will be a maximum of 2 texts on any particular day. We may not have this operating for the 2025 season so please check the web site regularly.

Telephone Calls

We would very much prefer you to contact us through email at sales@pick-a-peach.com or using our Contact Form. While we do have a “land line” telephone we are an outdoor operation so not always around to answer the call. You can leave us a message but we would prefer an email anyway as it is easier to track and respond.

God is good all the time.
